Household trash is collected on a weekly basis throughout the City. Trash cans are provided by the resident and are not to exceed 33 gallons in size. This service is provided by Waste Connections who are located in Cleveland, Tennessee. Their telephone number is 423.476.2293.
Waste Connections will allow one “Bulky Item” per resident per week as described below at no additional charge. This item must be placed at curb.
Bulky Item – Stoves, refrigerators (certified cfc free by the contractor), air conditioner units (certified cfc free by the contractor), hot water tanks, washing machines, dryers, furniture, an other materials not including: construction debris, carpet, trees, limbs, yard waste, dead animals, tires, hazardous waste or stable matter with weights or volume greater than those allowed for containers.
Bulk Item Collection (Sparkle Pickup)
Bulk items are collected twice per calendar year per address. There is a limit of one dump truck load per pickup. Bulk items include appliances, furniture, lumber, etc. Compressors must be removed from refrigerators and/or air conditioners prior to pickup. Concrete, roofing shingles, tires and hazardous materials (paint, oil, gas, etc.) are not picked up. Brush is not to be combined with a sparkle pickup. Brush is collected twice per calendar year per address. There is no brush pickup during “Burn Season” (October 1 through April 30). Brush cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length. There is a limit of one dump truck load per pickup. It is preferred that the brush be stacked in one direction. Do not place stack against a mailbox, retaining wall, etc. so as not to obstruct collection using a backhoe if necessary.
