The Big Soddy Creek Gulf area commonly called the “Gulf” is a natural beauty with lots of history located at 11721 Back Valley Road. Consisting of 285 acres of pristine wilderness, the Gulf offers hiking trails, mountain and gorge views, natural habitats, waterfalls, flora, wildlife, and rock formations along Big Soddy Creek.

Acquired by the City in 2014 the Gulf is open daily to foot traffic from sunrise to sunset. To promote visitation for everyone, vehicle access is only permitted on the 3rd Saturday of each month from April to October between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the elderly and those individuals with physical limitations. To obtain this access individuals over 65 years of age or who have physical limitations must provide City officials with proper identification and/or vehicle placard.

Should you have a need for vehicle access at other times, contact the Soddy-Daisy City Manager at 423-332-5323 (M-F, 8-4) and he/she will try to accommodate your requests for unusual circumstances.

Feel free to walk, hike, or bike on established roads and trails, picnic with your family or take a swim in the creek at your own risk of course (No Lifeguards on Duty).

To preserve and maintain the natural beauty of the area for generations to come, PLEASE obey the rules and keep the park clean and in its natural state.
